Alpha Mae Lutz's Obituary
Alpha Mae Lutz
February 10, 1942 – July 5, 2026
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, whose life was a beautiful reflection of faith, humility, generosity, and unconditional love. To many who knew her throughout the years, she was simply “Curly.” But to countless others, she was lovingly known as “Mamal”, a name she proudly introduced herself by and one that extended far beyond her own family because she had a remarkable way of loving people as if they were her own.
Born to the late Edward Snyder and Lilly Pudder Snyder, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill; her sisters, Ruby Snyder, Ruth Gear, Alma Taylor, and Genevieve Rexrode; and her brothers, Stanley, George, Wayne, James, and Wilson Snyder.
Throughout her life, she exemplified the value of hard work. Coming from humble beginnings, she built a loving home and a life of stability for her three daughters through determination and sacrifice. During her working years, she was employed at Jebco Drug Store and Howard Johnson’s before retiring after 25 years as a cook at Katherine Thomas Elementary School in Windham. She took great pride in serving others, whether at work, in her home, or within her community.
She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Slusher and her husband, Randy, of Windham; Christine Poole of Pickerington; and Jenny Larlham and her husband, Eric Larlham of Garrettsville. She is also survived by her sister, Grace Currence of Junior, West Virginia.
She leaves behind a legacy through her cherished grandchildren: Heather (Patsy), Anisa (Brian), Billy(Sara), Zach, Ally(Jeremy), Jessica(Austin), and Eric(Victoria); and her beloved great-grandchildren: Ella, Parker, Gwenyth, Gia, Patsy, Milania, Stefan, Ava, and Austin, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
To know her was to love her. She had an extraordinary gift for making everyone feel seen, valued, and loved. She was the first person her family called to share exciting news, seek advice, celebrate life’s milestones, or find comfort during difficult times. Those calls were always met with her warm heart and presence. There was nothing she loved more than spending time with her grandchildren. She was dependable in every sense of the word, always placing the needs of others ahead of her own.
Her greatest joy was her family, but her greatest passion was her faith. She loved Jesus wholeheartedly, and the way she lived her life and faced its trials with courage, she attributed to her Heavenly Father. Her journey was a testimony of his power and grace and she was sure to share the miracles he worked in her life. Through her words, her prayers, and example she set, she reminded those around her that God’s love is steadfast, His grace is sufficient, and His promises are true. Her quiet strength, constant prayers, and unwavering faith became the foundation upon which generations of her family have stood.
Though our hearts are broken, we rejoice knowing she is now in the presence of the Savior she loved so deeply. Her legacy of faith, love, compassion, generosity, and selflessness and love will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know her.
She was the heart of our family, our safe place, and our greatest encourager. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
We welcome family and friends to join us in honoring Curly on Friday, July 17, 2026, at Green Funeral Care (Mantua, Ohio). A time of greeting will begin at 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM.
“Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Lord.” Matthew 25:23
