His love for Jesus shared with Herb and IHe was so gentle and kind, Meant a great deal to us . I learned a great deal from him and his love for the Lord and people
It has taken quite some time for me to condense what I want to say about Alvin. He and Ruth were youth leaders when I was a teen and demonstrated true marital love and devotion. We became friends in his later years and his love of music was always evident as he would direct (from his seat) any and every band when we went to Sunday evening concerts. Our autumn trips after Ruth had passed reminded him of their anniversary trips after harvest was completed. Whether it was a day trip to Amish country or overnight to visit my brother, he would always say that the trees with the best color were just across the field from his home. He was content with his radio and his view and as things progressed, taught us to live in the moment when he could no longer remember the answers to questions that were asked. I loved to hear his prayers especially when they ended with a twinkle of asking God to help each of us at the table to be good children. I am so blessed to have known him and know he is singing with the angels now.
“We are told to let our light shine, and if it does, we won’t need to tell anybody it does. Lighthouses don’t fire cannons to call attention to their shining- they just shine.”– Dwight L. MoodyAlvin let his light shine with love and humility. My life was changed by the many kindnesses of Alvin and Ruth. Patricia Taylor Trow
Alvin was a dear and Godly man and a treasured friend to the Dutter family.
Alvin was such a kind and caring man. We will forever remember him. All our love, thoughts and prayers to the entire family.
Where do I even begin when it comes to leaving a tribute to this amazing man of God that I was blessed to have in my life for so many years. I came from a broken home and missed so much having a father in my life, but Papa Al graciously took me under his wings and became that father figure for me. He showed me what the love of a father should look like ... that his love should be unconditional, strong and firm yet gentle and compassionate, and that he should lead his family in the ways of the Lord and treat women with love and respect. Knowing him has impacted my life in more ways than I can say. I will miss him terribly. This isn't goodbye ... it's just so long for now my precious Papa Al. I look forward to seeing you again one day.
