Andrew "Andy" Krauss' Obituary
MANTUA Andrew ?Andy? Krauss, 72 years of age, a resident of the Mantua area since 1971, passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2017 in Sandusky, Ohio. Born in Willowick, Ohio on August 15, 1945, he was the son of the late Andrew and Ann (Marmash) Krauss. Following graduation from High School in 1963, he attended Morehead State University. Mr. Krauss proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era with the 4th. Infantry. His service time included being the personal guard for Charles P. Stone, Major General, and he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal. Following his military service, he was a graduate of Point Park College in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Mr. Krauss was the former owner-operator of both the Garrettsville Paint & Glass, and of Mat-A-Door, and then was employed at Lowe?s in Streetsboro for several years, and also at the U.S. Postal Service in Mantua as both a rural carrier and a clerk. A former member of the Hiram-Garrettsville Rotary Club, he also was an avid Cleveland sports fan. His family will always cherish the memories of going to the beach in the summer together, dad coaching his son?s Little League team, attending and supporting his daughter in all of her activities. Mr. Krauss will also be remembered as being a history buff, and for his extensive collection of antique bottles. On December 7, 1968, he married his devoted wife Joy (Schaffer) Krauss who survives at their residence. Also surviving are his beloved children Andrew ?Drew? (Molly) Krauss of Springfield, Ohio and Lindsey (Brian) French of Powell, Ohio; his loving grandchildren Andrew ?A.J.? and Madelyn Lane, and his sister Marilyn (George) Cervenka. Also surviving is his brother-in-law Jeffrey (Kimberly) Schaffer, nephews Jeffrey R. (Alexandria) Schaffer and John Michael Schaffer and niece Ashley Schaffer, all of Sumter, S.C. No calling hours. Funeral services will be Monday, August 28, 2017, 11:00 A.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service, 4668 Pioneer Trail at the corner of St.Rt. 44, Mantua, Ohio 44255. Officiating will be Pastor Chad Delaney. Final resting place will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Hiram, Ohio where military honors will be presented by the U.S. Army Honor Guard Team.
