Anna Wetshtein's Obituary
Anna (Graber) Wetshtein, 88, of Shalersville, OH, passed away on January 31.
Anna lived an extraordinary life. She was born in 1936 in a small Hungarian village in Romania. Her father, George Graber, was born in the United States before returning to Romania with his family as a small child. When her father returned to the US for work, Anna lived with her grandparents. At the age of 12 and without knowing English, she traveled to the US alone, landing in New York City on New Year's Day, 1950 to join her father in Shalersville, OH.
Anna met Adam Wetshtein through her dad who worked with Adam at the Ravenna Arsenal. Anna and Adam married in 1961 and were true soul mates. Together, they loved fishing, gardening, working the Ox Roast Fair, and spending time with their family.
Anna was affectionately known as the Candy Lady, Candy Grandma or simply by her mononym, Grandma. She always had bags of candy to give to everyone - one of many examples of her affectionate nature. She also - famously - loved to crochet kitchen towel holders and give them to everyone as gifts.
She is survived by her son, Mike (Patti), son-in-law, David, and grandchildren Troy (Toni), Leannah (Mohid), Nate (Jill) as well as many loving relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her father, George, her husband, Adam, and her daughter, Cathy.
Visitation is Thursday Feb 6th at Green Funeral Care, 4668 Pioneer Trail (at the corner of St. Rt. 44) in Mantua from 6-8pm. Funeral Mass to be held Friday Feb 7th at St. Joseph Church in Mantua at 11am (PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH), followed by interment at Hillside Cemetery, Shalersville.
