Ben was one of my favorite people in life. He was my Uncle but so much more than that to me. We shared so many fun times and trips together. Fishing-Mardi Grai, numerous trips to outer banks to fish and lots of long beautiful drives just to talk in his fiat with the top down..I lived with Ben for about 5 years in Greenville amd we had a bond no one could break. He always stood beside me and included me in everything he did. We played many games of chess and enjoyed many beers together This man loves me unconditionally no questions. I loved him the same. We would sit on porch smoke our pipes and talk for hours.. The smell of captian black and other aromas in the air. Ben was my family but most of all he was my friend . Over the years the time together physically wasn't as much but in each other's heart we were always there always. When we did see each.other I could feel the Love and excitement we both had. Lots of love, memories and forever moments made with this kind and loving man. Ben I will miss you . I loved you with all my heart and I know without a doubt you loved me

Dear Renate, I am very sorry for your loss. My condolences to you and your family.Molly Sergi
We will cherish more memories of Ben than can be shared in words. The Alaskan cruise our family took with Ben and Renate to celebrate their anniversary is a definite highlight. How animals stayed close to his calming presence, shared meals, heartfelt toasts, hugs, many laughs, and even some tears. Mostly, the love he gave to his family and to those he considered as family.
Miguel and I feel this loss deep in our hearts and bid adeau to a fallen soldier and wonderful person.
We love you Ben.
Until we meet again...
I've had the privilege of sharing more lunches, laughs, and memories with Ben than I deserved in the 25 years we worked together. He was a dear friend, and I can hear him chuckling through his beard while I write this. Renate, my sincere condolences. Time with Ben was a gift...Mike Foley
