Bernadine "Bernie" Gardner's Obituary
MANTUABernadine L."Bernie" Gardner, 98 years of age, became Our Gift to God on Monday July 23, 2012 at her residence with those who loved her so much by her side. Mrs. Gardner was God's Gift to Us on June 13, 1914 in Akron, Ohio the daughter of the late Harry and Hazel (Avery) Peabody. A homemaker, Mrs. Gardner was a resident of the Mantua and Shalersville areas since 1956. Known for her poker and pinochle skills, she also was a very active bowler for many years. A lady of class, she cherished her family and "Mom" and Gramma" will be truly missed by those who loved her, as much as she loved them. On February 16, 1942, she married John J. Gardner who preceded her in death on November 17, 2001. Also preceding her was her great- grandson Adam Hamilton, her brother Charles Peabody and sister Margaret Johnson. Survivors include her daughter Carol Daczko of Mantua, her sons John (Marcia) Gardner of Destin, Florida and Michael (Christine) Gardner of Tucson, Arizona, as well as 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be Thursday from 2:00 P.M.-4:00 P.M. & 6:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua, where her funeral service will be Friday July 27,2012 at 1:30 P.M. Mrs. Gardner will then be laid to rest beside her loving husband John at Westlawn Cemetery in Mantua Township. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials in her name to the Mantua-Shalersville Fire Department Rescue Squad or Crossroads Hospice.
