Bernardine Putka's Obituary
Bernardine Putka (née Soltis), age 94, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2026.
She was the beloved daughter of John and Anna Soltis (deceased), and the devoted wife of Charles Putka (deceased) for 49 years. She was also the loving companion of William Rolf for 17 years (deceased).
Bernie was born in Cleveland and attended Holy Name High School. She worked as a secretary in downtown Cleveland and later at the Gold Key Inn in Mantua. She also dedicated eight years as a volunteer at Longmeadow Rehab.
In 1961, Bernie and her husband built their home with the help of family and friends. Her happiness was found in entertaining her friends and family, flower gardening, baking, and caring for family members.
She enjoyed traveling with either Chuck or Bill to Canada, West Virginia, Arizona, California, and Colorado, but most of all cherished her trip to Rome, a gift from her niece Cynthia Crowley.
Bernie loved and was grateful for Bill. She is survived by his children: Kathy, Audrey, William, and Jackie; her brother John Soltis (Joy) (deceased 2022), her sister Evelyn and John (deceased), and her nephew Steven (deceased). She is also survived by her nieces Cynthia Crowley and Sandra Leppert; nephews Matt Crowley, Dylan Crowley, Dan Crowley and John Soltis; along with Rachel Kadric, Samual Soltis, Michael Soltis, Anne Soltis, and Benjamin Soltis.
In place of flowers, the family kindly asks that any donations be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 11045 St. Joseph Blvd, Mantua, OH 44255.
