Betty Jane Pickens' Obituary
MANTUABetty Jane Pickens, 81 years of age, passed away Monday August 9, 2010 at her residence. Mrs. Pickens was born on March 3, 1929 in Dunbar, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Sherman R. and Mary F. (Mullens) Martin. A homemaker who resided in the Mantua area the past 55 years, she had worked at Dunbar Glass Factory in West Virginia before moving to Ohio, following which she was employed for 13 years as a machine operator at Nymold in Bedford, Ohio until her retirement. Mrs. Pickens enjoyed flower gardening as her favorite hobby. She was a member of God's Church of Deliverance in Ravenna. On April 11, 1947, she married Carroll Pickens who preceded her in death in 2004.Also preceding her was her brother Denzel Martin and sister Margaret Martin. Survivors include her daughter Carla D.M. Pickens of Mantua; sons Joe E. (Debbie) Pickens of Akron and Dennis C. and Randy S. Pickens both of Texas; her brothers Charles Martin of Michigan and Carl Martin and sister Bonnie Sowards both of West Virginia, as well as 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 6:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua, where her funeral service will be held Thursday August 12, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev.
