MANTUA
Carl H.”Obby” Kuchenbecker, 89 years of age, became Our Gift to God on Saturday December 7, 2019 at Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield Hts., Ohio. Carl was God’s Gift to Us on March 26, 1930 at the family farm in Mantua Township, Ohio. He grew up in Mantua, and was a 1948 graduate of Mantua Township High School. Carl also resided in Geauga County for many years, and later moving from the area, returned to Newbury where he has resided the past 6 years. He had been employed in sales at Chase Brass & Copper for 48 years, retiring in 1997. Carl proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Army. He is a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Chesterland. Carl and his wife spent the winters in Arizona, he enjoyed golfing, and also collected 0-27 Lionel trains which have been passed on to his son. On August 29, 1953, he married his beloved wife Donna A. (Hamrich) Kuchenbecker who survives at their home. Also surviving are his devoted sons Gary H. (Susan) Kuchenbecker of Newbury, Randy G. Kuchenbecker of Overland Park, Kansas, and Brian C. (Amanda) Kuchenbecker of Valencia, California, and 6 loving grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his siblings Virgil Kuchenbecker in 2003, Harold and Clarence Kuchenbecker, Lillian Clark, Florence McGowan, Viola Dillman, Dorothy Boyle and Helen Derthick. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service, 4668 Pioneer Trail at the corner of St. Rt. 44, Mantua, Ohio 44255. Funeral services will be Thursday December 12, 2019, 11:00 A.M. at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 11900 Chillicothe Road, Chesterland, Ohio 44026 with Pastor Mark Matzke officiating. Military honors will be observed at the church by members of the U.S. Army Honor Guard Team, assisted by members of Mantua American Legion Post No. 193. Final resting place will follow at Westlawn Cemetery, Mantua Township, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the church.
