Carolyn Louise Smith's Obituary
Carolyn Louise Smith, (nee McConnell), age 84 of Ravenna, passed away peacefully, Friday, January 23, 2026. Born December 9, 1941 in Mt. Pleasant, PA, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Pearl (Kuhns) McConnell.
Blessed with 5 children, Carolyn was the loving mother of Gregory A. Smith (deceased), wife Leslie (Conger) Smith (surviving); Sandy J. (Smith) Taylor (deceased), husband Ted Taylor (surviving); Tammy L. (Smith) Fischer, husband Ron Fischer; Donald J. Smith, wife Monica (Bartlam) Smith, (deceased);and Ronald J. Smith, wife Niki (Montez) Smith. Cherished grandmother of Benjamin Smith, Kelley (Smith) Mehallis, Tim Taylor, Torrey Taylor, Bethany Fischer, Eric Fischer, Brandon Smith, Caleb Smith, Breena Smith, Logan Smith, Katie Smith, Tyler Smith, Samantha Smith and Hunter Farley; great grandmother of 8. Dear sister of Rosalie Garchar and Jean Michalczyk.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Donald L. Smith; brothers Frank, Earl, Wilkus, Charles and Gerald McConnell, and sisters, Elsie Zylka, Ruth Washburn, Alice Kreinbrook, Mary May, Fern Neuman, and June Grimm.
Carolyn found her greatest joy in the people she loved, cherishing every moment spent with family and friends. Creative at heart, she poured her talent into many crafts- from beautifully decorated cakes to intricate crocheted pieces and expressive artwork. Whether she was gathered around a table with loved ones or working on her latest project, she brought warmth, patience and special touch of creativity to everything she did.
Family and friends may gather for visitation at Green Funeral Care, 4668 Pioneer Trail, Mantua, on Monday, February 2, 2026 from 11am - 12pm, immediately followed by a funeral service at the funeral home at 12 pm. Following the service Carolyn will be laid to rest at Westlawn Cemetery, 3199 State RT. 82, Mantua, OH 44255.
