Charles "Chuck" Hauris' Obituary
Charles F. "Chuck" Hauris, age 70, of Aurora, passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at The Heights Rehabilitation Center in Broadview Heights. He was born to Joseph and Alice (Forsyth) Hauris in Pittsburgh, PA on December 22, 1952. Chuck was a 1975 graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania where he earned a Bachelors Degree in Mathematics with a Minor in Computer Science. On June 21, 1975 he married his beloved bride of 48 years, Paula (Rose) Hauris in Acme, PA.
Chuck began his career at Revco where he spent 23 years. While there, he helped develop the Prescription Access Link (PAL), an online pharmacy system that allowed pharmacies to access patient profile information, which led to the development of the first laser-generated patient leaflet in the industry. He then spent 3 years with MedE America Corporation and finished out the last 13 years of his career at the Cleveland Clinic as Manager of Pharmacy Information Systems where he helped develop the Epic Computer System, retiring in 2013.
Chuck was a proud member of the National Council for Prescription Drug Programs (NCPDP), the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) and the American Society for Automation in Pharmacy (ASAP). In his leisure time Chuck enjoyed doing yard work, playing golf and was an avid Cavs fan.
Chuck is survived by his beloved wife Paula (Rose) Hauris, his loving children, Chad Hauris (Gregg Bailey) of Gardendale, TX, Jennifer Hauris of the home and Katy Flegal (Erik) of Garrettsville. He was the cherished grandfather of Penelope and Stella Flegal. Dear brother of Susan Maziarz (Ed) of Pittsburgh, PA; Bill Hauris (Irma Thornton) of Pittsburgh, PA; Mimi Ault (Ken), of Lake Elsinore, CA; and Ginny Desantis (Randy Costolo) of Pittsburgh, PA. Uncle and great uncle of many nieces and nephews. Son-in-law of Eileene Rose and the late Donald Rose of Acme, PA. Brother-in-law of Scott Rose (Judy) and Tracy Rose (Bobby Oast). Special uncle to Ryan Oast.
Private services will be held at Brooks Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant, PA. He will be laid to rest at Donegal Cemetery, Donegal, PA.
