Charles Engelhart's Obituary
SHALERSVILLE Charles H. (Chick) Engelhart, 73 years of age, passed away suddenly Monday November 2, 2015 at his home. Born in Randolph, Ohio on November 1, 1942, he was the son of the late Albert J. and Marie (Huth) Engelhart. Chick was raised in Randolph, following which he moved with his family to the Mantua-Shalersville area, residing the past 45 years in Shalersville. He was employed as a truck driver at CW Transport out of Akron, Ohio, retiring after 24 years of service. Chick was a volunteer fireman for the Mantua-Shalersville Fire department for 23 years, and was instrumental in starting the department's youth development Explorers Program. He served as an officer of the Portage County Muscular Dystrophy Organization. Chick and his wife Patty were members of the Goodtime CB club where he served as president. An avid hunter in the days he could still get into the woods, he enjoyed going down south with the hunting gang. He was a car enthusiast refurbishing classic cars and collecting classic car models and more recently spent his free time wood carving/burning. Chick was a kind and gentle soul who regularly put the needs of others ahead of his own. He was known for his jovial laugh and his keen ability to tease everyone. If he was teasing you, you knew he loved you! This was evident in the unique way in which he and Patty interacted. On February 17, 1962, he married Patricia A. (Miller) Engelhart who survives at their home. Also surviving are his son Chuck (Kelly) Engelhart of Mantua, daughters Kendra Seni of Rootstown and Dawn Zolgus of Ravenna, brothers Edward (Florence) Engelhart of Venice, Florida and Gene (Rita) Engelhart of Akron, Ohio, grandchildren, Tia Miller, Tamra (Irvin) Flaitz, Malia Seni, Sean and Kayla Zolgus and Morgan and Collin Engelhart, and his great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Emma, Lailana and Zane. He was preceded in death by his brothers Paul, Walter, Robert, Harold and Ralph Engelhart and sisters Dolly Engelhart and Mary and Ruth Fecuich. Memorial visitation will be held Sunday November 15, 2015 from 1:00 P.M.-3:00 P.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service, 4668 Pioneer Trail at the corner of St. Rt. 44, Mantua, Ohio 44255. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested in Chick's name to the Mantua-Shalersville Fire Department or the Portage County Animal Protective League (APL).
