Charles E. Hawkins, Sr's Obituary
Charles E. Hawkins, Sr. 76 years of age of Shalersville Township passed away Friday February 6, 2009 at Cleveland Clinic Hospital. Mr. Hawkins was born in Cleveland, Ohio on September 19, 1932 the son of the late Robert and Anna (Brezensky) Hawkins. Formerly of Cleveland, he was a resident of the Shalersville area since 1960. Mr. Hawkins was employed at the Ford Motor Company Walton Hills Division as an automation maker. A member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Mantua, he was a former member of the Mantua Knights of Columbus. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran. An avid fisherman, he also enjoyed woodworking, yet his special times were those spent with his children and grandchildren. On November 13, 1954 he married Hazel M. "Mickee" (Brown) Hawkins who survives at their home. Also surviving are his two sons Charles E. (Maria) Hawkins, Jr. of North Carolina, Kevin W. (Teresa) Hawkins of Shalersville; his three daughters Lisa Mitchell of Aurora, Monica (Steve) Belrose of Michigan and Suzanne (Todd) Gerhardt of Mantua. Fourteen loving grandchildren, Bethany, Megan, Nathan, Bradley, Brett, Jessica, Jacob, Juliana, Chad, Gabriel, Mario, Abbigail, Emily and Isabel also survive. Visitation will be Monday from 10:00 A.M.-11:30 A.M. at Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua, where prayers will begin at 11:30 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday February 9,2009 at 12:00 Noon at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Michael Garvey officiating. Final resting place will be at Riverside Cemetery in Shalersville. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Joseph's Church.
