Charles R. Kelly, 80 years of age, passed away Friday March 2, 2018 at University Hospital-Portage Medical Center in Ravenna, Ohio. Born in Niagara Falls, New York on March 15, 1937, he was the son of the late Earl and Evelyn (Cooney) Kelly. In 1968 he graduated from the University of Buffalo with a Major in Philosophy. Formerly of Bainbridge Township, he had been a resident of the Mantua area since 1978. Mr. Kelly had been employed at Pace International, beginning his career in the paper mill in 1955, working his way up in the company where he held the position of Union Representative retiring in 2000. Mr. Kelly felt the importance of serving his country, and thus enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1956 and served with pride until he was honorably discharged in 1959. A gentleman of many interests he enjoyed genealogy, traveling the eastern United States and truly loved the casinos. On January 18, 1958, he married his beloved wife Shirley (Russell) Kelly who survives at their home. He is also survived by his devoted children Cameron (Francisco Morales) Kelly of Miami, Florida and Sheila (Phil) Kelly of Mantua, Ohio, and dear siblings Betty Beckwith and Mary Jean Mellan, both of Niagara Falls, New York and Colleen Dey of Alaska. No calling hours or services. Cremation has been held.
