Chester Jaye Parsons' Obituary
Chester Jaye Parsons (93) passed away peacefully on Friday, January 30 at Arbors of Streetsboro. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet (Polley); his son, Chester Philip; his sisters Mary (Parsons) Buzzard, Edith (Parsons) Geiser, and Carmel (Parsons) Shimko; his brother Leroy Archie Parsons; and his twin brother, Charles Kaye Parsons.
He is survived by his son, Charles Parsons (Heidi); his niece, Opal Young; nephews Colin Buzzard, Ed Parsons, and Robert Parsons; and many other extended family members.
Born and raised near New Martinsville, West Virginia, Chester enlisted in the US Air Force alongside his twin brother on their eighteenth birthday. After completing his military service, he worked for the Civil Service and later had a long career as a mail carrier with the US Postal Service in Ravenna, Ohio. He ended his working days as an aide and bus driver for Happy Day School.
Chester enjoyed honky-tonk music, playing guitar, working on automobiles, and, above all, spending his retirement years driving the roads of Ohio and West Virginia, visiting the places tied to his earliest memories and family roots.
A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Chester expressed his faith through service and by sharing his testimony. He also had a lifelong affection for animals and cared deeply about their well-being.
Chester's family offers heartfelt gratitude to the kind and dedicated caregivers at Arbors of Streetsboro and Affinity Care of Ohio, who looked after him with extraordinary compassion for nearly a decade.
A private memorial will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Portage County Animal Protective League or Happy Trails Animal Sanctuary.
