Claude R. Harmon's Obituary
BLUFFTON-MANTUA Claude R. Harmon, 91 years of age, passed away Saturday December 21, 2013 at the Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton, Ohio. Born in Mantua, Ohio on December 26, 1921, he was the son of the late Demas and Amy (Simpson) Harmon. A resident of Bluffton since 2003, he formerly resided in Mantua, Chagrin Falls and Bradenton, Florida. A graduate of Mantua High School, Mr. Harmon followed in the footsteps of his father and became a member of the Mantua Volunteer Fire department in 1939, serving side by side with his dad assisting their community. During World War II Mr. Harmon served in the U.S. Navy.Survivors include his sons Clifford K. (Gail) Harmon of Bluffton, Ohio and Roy L. Harmon of Reminderville, Ohio, daughters Gail Brenda (William) Rider of Concord, New Hampshire and Susan (Jeff) Wilcox of Tega Cay, South Carolina, grandchildren Molly Rider, Joseph Rider, Corey (Emaline) Rider, Kimberly Harmon, Benjamin Harmon, Jason (Danielle) Harmon and Jonathan (Jill) Harmon, and great-granddaughter Esme Rider. He was preceded in death by his wife Blanch (Hanzl) Harmon in 2005, and 2 sisters Mary Jones and Ethel Beaudoin. Funeral services will be held Saturday January 18, 2014, 3:00 p.m. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua, with Rev. Mickey Aquilino officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. on Saturday until the time of his funeral. Final resting place will follow at Westlawn Cemetery in Mantua Township with U.S. Navy Military Honors.
