Clyde D. Lottig's Obituary
MANTUA Clyde D. Lottig, 88 years of age, passed away Saturday November 27, 2010 at his residence. Born on April 19, 1922 in Garfield Hts., he was the son of the late Max and Anna (Kasik) Lottig. A Mantua area resident since 1949, he was a Charter member of Christ Lutheran Church in Mantua, where he served as a former Deacon, Treasurer, Financial Secretary and assisted with numerous church activities always lending a helping hand in whatever manner possible. Mr. Lottig enjoyed fishing, gardening, bowling, horseshoes, playing pinochle and taking many bus trips with his wife. He was active with the 4'Cs, the Blood Bank and Portage County Senior Citizens, being named Senior Citizen of the Year in 2007. Mr. Lottig was employed as a machinist at Marquette Metals in Cleveland, then at WEBCO in Garfield Hts. retiring in 1984. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II. On June 28, 1947 he married Mary Ann (Prib) Lottig and they started on their honeymoon, but had to turn back. Then on their 35th wedding anniversary, they took a bus trip to Jackson Hole Wyoming to celebrate the trip that they were unable to make 35 years earlier. In addition to his wife at their home, survivors include his sons Bruce (Virginia) Lottig of Braceville and Brian (Diane) Lottig of Mantua; his daughters Barbara (Patrick) Madigan of Queensland, Australia and Joanne (Larry) Quesenberry of Mantua, as well as 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother Alvin and Sisters Betty Edler and Nancy Kettler. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua. Funeral services for Mr. Lottig will be Wednesday December 1, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at Christ Lutheran Church in Mantua with Pastor Ronald Duer officiating. Mr. Lottig will be laid to rest at Westlawn Cemetery in Mantua Township with Military Honors provided by a U.S. Army Honor Guard Team, assisted by American Legion Post No. 193. In Lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Christ Lutheran Church or Robinson Memorial Hospital Hospice/Visiting Nurse.
