Daisy Wilke's Obituary
MANTUA Drucia "Daisy" Wilke, 80 years of age, became Our Gift to God on Monday March 26, 2012 at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna, Ohio. Daisy was God's Gift to Us on February 1, 1932 in Gassaway, West Virginia the daughter of the late Oscar and Esta (Blosser) Belknap. A resident of the Mantua-Hiram areas the past 65 years, she had been employed as a machine operator at Eveready Battery in Garrettsville, retiring after 28 years of service. She held memberships in Faith Evangelical Free Church in Garrettsville and American Legion Post No. 193 Ladies Auxiliary in Mantua. Daisy enjoyed traveling, fishing, baking, especially the many cakes she made for family and friends special occasions, and the time she spent with her grandchildren and other family members. An avid Cleveland Indians fan, "Mom" never missed a game on TV or radio. On September 13, 1948, she married Lester A. Wilke who preceded her in death on November 24, 1995. Also preceding were her sons David in 1991, Dale in 2010, brothers Lonnie, James, Gene, Oliver, Donald, Bernard and Delmos Belknap and sisters Jackie Carpenter, Ines "Toots" Spencer, Rachel Farkas and Ruby Wheeler. Daisy is survived by her children Dan (Linda) Wilke of Mantua and Debbie (David) Resh of Hiram, her brother Roy Belknap of Akron, 4 grandchildren Douglas (Rachael), Daniel (Maryann), Elizabeth (Ron) and John (Renay) and 7 great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be Friday from 6:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua, where her funeral service will be Saturday March 31, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. with Pastor Peter King officiating. Final resting place will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Mantua Village.
