Dan Harper's Obituary
SHALERSVILLE Daniel G. Harper, Sr., 74 years of age, passed away Tuesday January 4, 2011 at Harrison Memorial Hospital in Cynthiana, Kentucky following a lengthy illness. Born on May 26, 1936 in Shalersville Township, Ohio, he was the son of the late C.H. "Bus" and Elizabeth (Balaz) Harper. A 1954 graduate of Mantua-Shalersville High School, he then served in the U.S. Air Force. A lifetime dairy farmer, Dan retired in 1998 to enjoy fishing and gardening in Kentucky, presently residing in Cynthiana. Survivors include his wife Kathryn (Slak) Harper at their residence; daughter Laura (Kevin) Bosak of Atlanta, Georgia; sons Ed (Jennifer) Harper of Twinsburg, Ohio, Daniel (Cindy) Harper, Jr. of Thornville, Ohio and Seth Harper of Cambridge, Ohio and 2 grandchildren; brothers John and Ray Harper both of Mantua and sisters Joyce(Leonard)Brehm of Bradenton, Florida and Linda (Larry) Marek of Mantua. He was preceded in death by his sister Sandy Haines. No calling hours. A graveside funeral service will be Tuesday January 11, 2011 11:00 A.M. at Riverside Cemetery in Shalersville Township with Rev. Carolyn Berry officiating. A time of fellowship will follow for family and friends at the Shalersville Town Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials to either the Mantua-Shalersville Fire Department or Hospice of the Bluegrass. Arrangements are by the Green Family funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua.
