David Lee Stevens' Obituary
SHALERSVILLE David L. Stevens, 79 years of age, passed away Tuesday August 30. 2016 at Portage Medical Center-UH in Ravenna, Ohio. Born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania on September 11, 1936, he was the son of the late Charles and Eileen (McClain) Stevens. A resident of the Shalersville area the past 37 years, Mr. Stevens had been employed at Chrysler Parts Depot in Solon from where he retired in 1996.During the Korean Conflict he served his country in the U.S. Army. An avid Steelers and Dallas Cowboys fan, he also enjoyed fishing, golfing and hunting. Mr. Stevens was a talented guitar player, formerly playing with his brother-in-law?s band, enjoyed playing the organ, and found pleasure singing for his grandchildren, creating special memories for them and all of his family. On April 5, 1969, he married Mary (Horner) Stevens who survives at their home. Also surviving are his daughters Tammy (Tim) McCabe and Shelly Jefferies both of Ravenna, Connie (Ken) Rutter of Venango, Pennsylvania and Jamie (Jason Sizemore) Stevens of Mayfield Hts.; sisters Nancy McClmbie, Rosie Nemeth and Linda (Ray) Zabala all of Johnstown; 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his sister Caroline Gosnel. Visitation will be held Saturday September 3, 2016 at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service, 4668 Pioneer Trail at the corner of St.Rt. 44, Mantua, Ohio 44255 from 11:00 A.M.-1:00 P.M. with military honors provided by the U.S. Army Honor Guard Team, assisted by members of Mantua American Legion Post No. 193. to conclude the visitation.
