Dolores B. Koscher's Obituary
Dolores B. Koscher (Gillespie), age 89, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, surrounded by love.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gordon L. Koscher, and her mother, Nellie E. Gillespie (Crew), and father, Carl W. Gillespie, whom she dearly missed. She is survived by her children, Michele E. Smith(Dean) and Michael A. Koscher (Stephanie); her grandchildren, Ella and Jack Koscher; her much-loved grandpets; and many dear friends and neighbors who will continue to honor her memory.
As a mother, Dolores was deeply loving and supportive of her children, Michele and Michael, always offering guidance, comfort, and encouragement.
Beyond her family, she was a cherished presence in the lives of friends and neighbors, remembered for her warmth, quick wit, and genuine care for others. Her active involvement in Hilltop Christian Church, the Junior Women's League, scouting, and numerous community organizations reflected her lifelong commitment to service and her desire to build meaningful, lasting connections. Her love for quilting provided many beautiful quilts for family and friends to cherish, while being very active in her local quilting club, leaving lasting memories of herself.
Dolores was proud to be the first woman hired by Chrysler in the secretary department and often shared that, for a time, she earned more than her husband - who began his career as a fireman. After starting their family, she devoted herself fully to raising her children and later worked for many years as a teachers' aide at Mantua Elementary School, where her caring nature and patience enriched the lives of countless students.
Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is reunited with those she loved and that her generous spirit will live on in the countless lives she touched.
Her life was one of love, faith, and service - a life beautifully lived and deeply cherished.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at Hilltop Christian Church, 4572 W. Prospect St., Mantua, OH 44255 on Saturday, October 25th. The family will receive friends at 10am with the service beginning at 11:00am. A lunch with follow at the church, along with burial at 1:30 at Drakesburg Cemetery in Windham.
