Dolores Marie Skupski's Obituary
Dolores Marie Skupski, of Streetsboro, Ohio, passed away, on January 20, 2024, at
the age of 92. She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years George S.
Skupski, her sons George T. Skupski and David P. Skupski. She is survived by her
sons James (Nancy) Skupski, Michael (Vickie) Skupski, Steven Skupski and
daughters Diane (James) Seibert-Edwards and Patricia (Patrick) Bokesch. She had
13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was a mother, wife, sister,
daughter and friend to many.
One of the last of the "Greatest Generation", she suffered through the Great Depression, WWII, having access to limited resources during her childhood, living in a house with no electricity or indoor plumbing. She was the eldest of three children born to Frank and Genevieve Sobocinski. She had a very simple and transient childhood and was raised, in part, by her grandmother. In hard times and good, she was there for her children and family. She was proud to be Polish. She had a bumper sticker that said, "You bet your 'dupa' I'm Polish."
She met her husband, a WWII Navy veteran, and married in 1948. She had
a great sense of humor; which is necessary to raise seven children; and she did it
on a very limited budget. She had an excellent memory for names, places, events
and especially birthdays. We were always amazed at how she could remember
who was born when and where. She taught us many things that we only came to
appreciate as we aged and started to raise our own children. She had a kind and
loving heart. She loved children, enjoying their innocence and wide-eyed
enthusiasm. She taught her children and grandchildren how to care for
themselves as well as others less fortunate. She was a devoted parishioner of St.
Joseph Church, Mantua, Ohio. She loved her church and never strayed from her
religious faith.
According to Dolores' wishes, there will be no viewing, but a Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 10:00 am, Saturday, February 3, 2024. (PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH). Burial to follow at Riverside Cemetery, Shalersville, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to St.Joseph Church https://giving.parishsoft.com/giving/stjosephmantua (please
