Clara Shurmer
Don was a great friend, really more like family. He was a quiet man with a broad smile and a generous, giving heart. When my wife Clara and I adopted our girls many years ago, our parents all lived out of state, so Don and Mary became surrogate grandparents. And they really lived the role. When the girls wanted to throw us a 25th anniversary party, they asked “Grandpa” and “Grandma” for help. Don and Mary stepped right in and planned - and paid for - the whole thing, and held the party at their place. We have many more special memories that are a comfort to us now that he is gone. Miss you, brother!
