Donald W. Craver's Obituary
GARRETTSVILLE Donald W. Craver, 78 years of age, passed away Monday January 1, 2018 at UH-Portage Medical Center in Ravenna, Ohio. Born in Garrettsville on July 11, 1939, he was the son of the late Wayne and Emma (Neitzel) Craver. Mr. Craver was a lifetime resident of Garrettsville, and a 1957 graduate of James A. Garfield High School. He retired from R.W. Sidley after 44 years of service as a mechanic. Mr. Craver served his community for 53 years as a member of the GFN Fire Department where he was well-respected by all who worked with him. He also was a butcher at Cravers Meat Market in Garrettsville for many years. His passion for tractors included working on antique tractors, being part of numerous parades with tractors, and attending tractor pulls. Mr. Craver knew that the only ? real tractors were painted green?. Cherished memories of this quiet and respectful gentleman will forever include his love of family, especially his grandchildren who he adored. On December 19, 1969, he married his beloved wife Donna J. (Gardner) Craver who survives at their home. Also surviving are his devoted children Stanley (Tina) Lawrence of Windham, Don (Christie) Craver, 2nd. Of Garrettsville, Rodney (Sherri) Craver of Mineral Ridge, Ohio, Darlene (Reid) Patten of Strongsville and Donna K. (Erin) Craver of Kent; his brother Glenn (Judi) Craver of Garrettsville and his sister Dorothy (Ed) Kurz of Ravenna; 12 loving grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He also leaves his best 4-legged child ?Dixie? Mr. Craver was preceded in death by his son Greg Lawrence. Memorial visitation will be Sunday January 7, 2018 from 2:00 P.M.-4:00 P.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service, 4668 Pioneer Trail at the corner of St. Rt. 44, Mantua, Ohio 44255. Immediately following at 4:00 P.M. family and friends are all invited to join at the Garrettsville Fire Department for a time of fellowship. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the March of Dimes Foundation, Donation Processing Center, P.O. Box 673667, Marietta, Georgia 30006.
