MANTUA
Donald F. DeWitt, 96 years of age, of Mantua passed away peacefully March 30, 2022. Don was born August 16, 1925, in Port Jervis, New York, the son of the late Allen M. and Adeline (Culligan) DeWitt. Don served his country with honor in the U.S. Army during WWII. Don began his career with the Erie R.R. in New York, and in 1952 transferred to Cleveland and settled in Mantua. Don retired from Conrail as a Senior Civil Engineer. Don was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Mantua, Knights of Columbus Council No. 3766, and Mantua American Legion Post #193. Survivors include his daughter Donna (Bill deceased) Maynard, son Mickey (Barb) DeWitt, both of Mantua; grandchildren Shannon (Chuck) Sayre, Shawn Maynard, Kevin (Hayley) DeWitt, and Kyle(Jen) DeWitt. His great-granddaughters, Olivia, Ella, and Emma Sayre, also survive. On September 20,1947, Don married his beloved wife Helen (Shewchuk) DeWitt, whose passing took place on August 4, 2020. No calling hours. A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Portage County APL or Crossroads Hospice.
