Donald Lester's Obituary
Ray Lester, age 66 of Mantua, passed away peacefully at his home, Monday, August 21, 2023. Born in East Cleveland on August 7, 1957 to the late Donald Bane and Viola (nee Bailey) Lester.
Ray attended Crestwood High School where he played football and graduated in 1975. He attended college before launching his life-long career of Truck Driving, retiring in 2018. Ray was very passionate about football and was an avid OSU and Cleveland Browns Football fan. He truly enjoyed all things outdoors, especially his Harley Davidson motorcycle, duck hunting, fishing, gardening, the special camping trips that he took with his family and the family baseball games. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.
Ray was very proud to call himself a Cancer Survivor. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #12 and the Teamsters Union #407.
Ray is survived by his daughter Ashley Money (Chris) of Indian Land, SC., ; a brother Jim Lester (Deshel) of Cape Coral, FL., nieces Kaitlin Lester and Kristen Lester, a grand niece and nephew; his step-daughter Faith Sobola (Brian) of Ravenna; grandchildren Zoey Zimmerman, Zachary Zimmerman and Brandin Sobola and numerous cousins and tons of friends. He will also be sadly missed by his beloved dog Hank.
Friends may gather for visitation at Green Funeral Care, 4668 Pioneer Trail, at the corner of St. Rt. 44, on Friday, August 25, 2023 from 5-7 p.m. A funeral service will take place Saturday, August 26, 2023 at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Shalersville.
The family asks that all of Ray's riding friends to please bring your motorcycles to the funeral home on Saturday, to honor Ray in processing to the cemetery.
