Donald Vanderink's Obituary
HIRAMDonald H. Vanderink, 78 years of age, a lifetime Hiram area resident, passed away Tuesday September 21, 2010 at University Hospitals-Geauga Regional Medical Center in Claridon Township. Mr. Vanderink was born in Cleveland, Ohio on June 28, 1932, the son of the late Harvey and Helen (Hornyak) Vanderink. He was retired from Airmaze in Bedford Hts., where he had been employed as a machinist. Mr. Vanderink was a U.S. Marine Veteran having served his country in the Korean Conflict, and was a former member of the Solon V.F.W.He enjoyed hunting, fishing, dancing and the company of all pets. He was preceded in death by his first wife Pauline Vanderink in 1987, his second wife Barbara Vanderink in 2001 and his son Alan Vanderink in 1975. Survivors include his son Steve ( Dana) Vanderink of Hiram, his daughter Holly ( Ed) Stohlmann of Tuscon, Arizona, brother James Vanderink of Heath, Ohio, sisters Alice Herr of Georgia, Dolores Comisky of Cleveland and Diane Szabo of Garrettsville and 4 grandchildren, Brittany, Alan, Jimmy, and Jennifer. No calling hours. A memorial service will be Sunday September 26, 2010 2:00 P.M. at The First Baptist Church of Garrettsville, 7656 St.Rt. 82, with Pastor David Gray officiating. A time of fellowship and luncheon will follow for family and friends.Mr. Vanderink will be laid to rest Monday September 27, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at Hillside Cemetery in Mantua Village with military honors. The Vanderink family would like to extend a special thank you and appreciation to Brooks House in Hiram for their loving care of Mr. Vanderink. Arrangements are by the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua.
