Doris Mae Fejedelem's Obituary
MANTUA - Doris Mae Fejedelem, 85 years of age, passed away Wednesday April 14, 2010 at her residence. Doris was born on December 23, 1924 in Auburn Township, Ohio the daughter of the late William G. and Flossie (Hurd) Bishop. Doris moved to the Mantua area from Auburn in 1954 and with her husband, Jack, operated a successful farm for 38 years. She was the farm support team: doing bookkeeping, making daily lunches (and sometimes delivering them to the field and even including tractor driving when needed!) The farm activities also included a feed business at local race tracks for many years. Doris was a Cleveland Press motor route carrier for many years and also drove school bus for the Kenston School District. An accomplished seamstress herself, as a 4-H leader in the Mantua area, she taught many young ladies to sew. A lady who knew the meaning of hard work, she had a strong, but gentle spirit, and would always have the final say! Doris loved and was devoted to her family, and took great pride in sharing her fondness of playing cards with many of her grandchildren, which gave her special moments of bonding with them and providing lasting memories of her wit. Doris was currently a member of the American Legion Auxiliary # 193 in Mantua. On November 3, 1945, she married Eugene "Jack " Fejedelem who survives at their residence. Also surviving are her children Carol ( Ray ) Corbett, Glenn (Mary) Fejedelem and Dale (Rosalie) Fejedelem all of Mantua and Jeanne Deuley of Shalersville; sisters Julia " Peggy " Winchell of Mantua and Wilma Brown of Auburn Township, as well as 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandsons. She was preceded in death by her sister Hazel Ostrode and twin great-granddaughters. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua, where her funeral service will be held Monday April 19, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. Doris will be laid to rest at Shadyside Cemetery in Auburn Township, with her grandchildren Brandon Whitesel, Mark Fejedelem, Matt Fejedelem, Zack Fejedelem, Nick Fejedelem, Colleen Vance and Courtney Alexander respectively acting as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Hospice of The Western Reserve, 4670 Richmond Road Suite 200 Warrensville Hts., Oh. 44128.
