Dorothy Mae Sofonia's Obituary
GARRETTSVILLE Dorothy Mae Sofonia, 88 years of age, passed away Saturday March 22, 2014 at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna, Ohio. Born in Cleveland, Ohio on February 7, 1926, she was the daughter of the late George and Rose Anna (Doskocil) Westwood. A homemaker, Mrs. Sofonia had been a resident of Garrettsville the past 25 years, formerly living in Bedford, Ohio. She enjoyed attending the Senior Citizen luncheons, working in the yard and feeding the hummingbirds. On January 27, 1948, she married Albert G. Sofonia who preceded her in death on August 21, 1998. Survivors include her sons Donald (Julie) Sofonia of Shaker Hts., Ohio, James (Tammy) Sofonia of Traverse City, Michigan and John (Cheryl) Sofonia of Page Springs, Arizona, daughter Carol (Joe) Gries of Mantua, Ohio, her sister Betty Giljahn of Columbus, Ohio, her grandchildren Krista, Kelly, Jason, Jeremy, Joey and Jeffrey and her great-grandson Owen. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua, where her funeral service will be held Wednesday March 26, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Final resting place will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery in Twinsburg, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Hospice of Robinson Memorial Hospital.
