Douglas James Wagner, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on June 19, 2025, in Mantua, Ohio. Born on September 21, 1969, in Chardon, Ohio, Doug's life was marked by an unwavering dedication to his loved ones and a passion for the simple pleasures of life.
Doug graduated from Aurora High School in 1988, where he formed many lifelong friendships and discovered his love for working with his hands.
After high school, Doug established himself as a self-employed construction worker. His natural ability to fix anything and his meticulous craftsmanship were unwavering.
Doug's heart was truly in the outdoors, where he found solace and joy. Whether it was sitting on his front porch, enjoying the tranquility of nature, or engaging in woodworking, his hands were rarely still. He had a remarkable talent for creating beautiful things out of simple materials, a skill that he generously used to help anyone in need.
Those who knew Doug will remember him for his great sense of humor and his ability to tell jokes that could lighten any mood. His laughter was infectious, and his presence was a source of comfort to those around him. Doug was the embodiment of love and care, with a giant heart that he freely opened to his family and friends.
He leaves behind a loving family: his devoted wife, Jeannine F. Wagner (DeBon); his proud son, Hunter Wagner; his cherished mother, Barbara Wagner; and his esteemed father, Douglas K. Wagner (wife Norma), his sister, Gretchen McIntosh, her husband, Jim and their children Ainsley and Isaac. Doug's blended family also included his stepsons, Corey DeBon and Cole Casten; his stepdaughter, Amber Hissett, and her husband, Matthew; and his adored step-grandchildren, Lea and Emma Hissett.
Doug was a man who was loving, handy, and thoughtful in every aspect of his life. His legacy is one of kindness, generosity, and a life well-lived. His absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him, but his spirit will continue to inspire us to approach life with the same passion and dedication that he exemplified.
As we say goodbye to Douglas James Wagner, we celebrate a life that was full of love, laughter, and the joy of creating. He was a beacon of light in the lives of many, and his memory will be cherished forever.
