America First
Hello family.
I didn't know Sergeant First Class Zimmerman but I sure heard stories from some of his men that served with him in Vietnam, especially stories from Thomas Dosier.
Tom Dosier is my Wife's Uncle and we met in 1990, when I was dating my Wife. My Wife Nicole and I married in q991 amd are still together.
Tom and Lu were a big part of our lives.
"SGT Z" was a big part in Tom Dosier's life.
When I met Tom I was an E3 in the Army, dating his Neice. My Father was a retired (RIP Dad 01/20/2013) Army Paratrooper. Special Forces, 24 years Army before retirement.
I met Thomas Dosier (Uncle Tommy) in 1990, while dating his neice, my future wife.
Fast forward, I spent 9 years in the Army Airborne m, 24 years in the United States Border Patrol amd while in rhe USBP, I was a SEABEE in the Unit3d States Navy Reserve.
Point of fact, I was an E3 PFC and Rom was an E8 1SG when we met.
I married Roms's neice amd heard lots of SGT Z stories (Sergeant First Class Zimmerman if I recall correctly).
Theybwere all abkut acr leadership and how leaders should be, especially under fire.
I tool those stories to heart along with things my own Garjer, retired 1SG Shkrt said and 1SG Dosier said.
Many lessons that 1SG Dosier used, led by amd imparted were from ehat he learned feom his Vietnam Platoon Sergeant Zimmer "Sgt Z".
"SGT Z" lived on beyond his years.
Im a retired GS14 Border Patrol Agent who was 9 years Airborne in the Army and 7 years US Navy Reserve SEABEE.
SGT Z'sessoms, along with 1SG Dosier's and my Dad's, 1sg Short served me well.
I know personally from 1SG Dosier, that many of the lessons he learned, he learned feom SFC Zimmerman, in Vietnam.
'Sgt Z's" wisdom lived on and was passed to several generations of soldiers.
Just thought his friends and family should know.
I spoke at his funeral as a guest and said similar.
