Edward Gene Brehm's Obituary
Aurora - Edward Gene Brehm, 78 years of age of Aurora, became Our Gift to God on Monday March 9, 2009 at his residence in Aurora, Ohio. Mr. Brehm was God's Gift to Us on August 18, 1930 at Mantua Township, Ohio the son of the late George and Mollie (Runniger) Brehm. A resident of Aurora since 1964, Ed grew up in the Mantua area and was a member of the last class of Mantua Center Township School and was a past president of the Mantua Center Alumni Association. He was a member of the 1947 and 1948 Portage County Championship Basketball Teams. U.S.A., Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict, Ed was an airplane mechanic stationed at Point Mugu Naval Air Station in California, A graduate of Hiram College with a Bachelor of Arts degree; he then earned his Masters' from Kent State University. Ed was employed by the Warrensville Hts. School District his entire teaching career until his retirement., After his retirement Ed and his wife., Mary ran a preschool in their home for over 20 years, Ed is a past president of the Chagrin Valley Square Dance Club and he and Mary enjoyed traveling around the country attending square dance conventions. Besides enjoying teaching children and dancing, Ed enjoyed gardening, wood working and being with his family. He was a member of Parkside Church, the Crestwood Alumni Association and the 103rd Ohio Volunteer Infantry Reunion Group. On July 26, 1953 he married his beloved wife Mary (Fishburn) Brehm who survives at their home. He is the devoted father of David (Nancy) Brehm of Powell, Ohio Larry (Karen) Brehm of Gahanna, Ohio Linda (Mark-deceased) Bauer of Houston, Texas and Diana (Jim) Leitch of Rocky-River, Ohio, the dear brother of Leonard (Joyce) Brehm of Bradenton, Florida and the loving grandfather of Christina Bauer, Stephen Bauer. Julie (John) Foley, Laura Brehm, Molly Leitch, Debra Leitch, Marybeth Leitch, Kim Leitch, Billy Brehmand Matthew Brehm. He was preceded in death by his brothers Robert and George Brehm and sister Bernice Thompson.NO CALLING HOURS. Ed is being laid to rest at Westlawn Cemetery in Mantua Township where he will receive full military honors.
