Edward J. Mehal's Obituary
GARRETTSVILLE-SHALERSVILLE TOWNSHIP Edward J. Mehal, 80 years of age, passed away Friday April 30, 2010 at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna, Ohio. Born on January 18, 1930 in Adah, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Andrew and Mary (Durslag) Mehal. A resident of the Garrettsvile area the past 6 years, Mr. Mehal formerly was a longtime Shalersville Township resident. Employed at General Motors in Euclid, Ohio he retired after 30 years of service. Mr. Mehal was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, and a member of American Legion Post No. 193 in Mantua. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and the rebuilding of Fiddle's and music that included Country, Blue Grass, Polka and Gospel. A loving and dedicated family man that included the raising of 14 children, he placed family first in his life. On September 14, 1972, he married Dolores "Dee" Mehal, who preceded him in death on July 26, 2006. Also preceding him were his sons Andrew and Robert Mehal and several brothers and sisters. Mr. Mehal is survived by his devoted children Janice (Butch) Hower of Pennsylvania, Cheryl (Ron) Miller of Garrettsville, Veronica (Tim) Wojtas of Mantua, Cathy (Andrew) Vascellero of New York, Cindy (Michael) Miller of Florida, Edward (Barb) Mehal, Gerald (Karen) Mehal and Anthony Mehal all of Pennsylvania, Kevin (Pam) Ressler and Kennedy (Pat) Ressler both of Florida and Kirk (Anita) Ressler of Mantua and Keith Ressler of Ohio. Also surviving is his sister Rose Liptock and his daughter-in-law Eva Mehal both of Pennsylvania, 20 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and his 4-legged companion and best friend Katy. Calling hours will be Monday from 2:00 P.M.-4:00 P.M. & 6:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua, where his funeral service will be held on Tuesday May 4, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Jerry Witt officiating. Mr. Mehal will be laid to rest beside his loving wife Dolores at Hillside Cemetery in Mantua Village, where full military honors will be presented.
