Elizabeth MacAlonan's Obituary
BEDFORD-AURORA Elizabeth J. "Betty Mac" MacAlonan, 96 years of age, became Our Gift to God on Tuesday May 12, 2015 at Ahuja Medical Center in Beachwood, Ohio. Betty was God's Gift to Us on August 24, 1918 in Bedford, Ohio, the daughter of the late Herman and Ada (Elliott) Osborn. A lifetime resident of the Bedford and Aurora areas, she graduated from Bedford High School in 1936. She then attended the Cleveland Institute of Music, continuing her studies there for several years. In her teens, she and her sister Ellen Byers became known as the "Osborn Sisters", as they became pros with their Accordion duets, providing entertainment at community events, nursing homes, hospitals and other venues as requested. As the matriarch of the whole family, everyone looked to her for love, guidance and prayers. A devoted member of His Ministry, Betty was the church organist for 25 years, as well as playing the piano there and a musical inspiration to so many over the years. On December 20, 1939, she married Arnold "Mac" MacAlonan who preceded her in death in 1996. Also preceding were her sons Robert Walter MacAlonan in 2004, James Alan MacAlonan in 2003, her sisters Ellen Byers and Paggy Lindauer, and her brother Edwin Osborn. Betty is survived by her daughters Shirley (Otto) Koth of Macedonia and Kay (Burt) Almy, Jr. of Mantua, 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and her loving church family at His Ministry. Calling hours will be Sunday May 17, 2015 from 2:00 P.M.-5:00 P.M. at His Ministry, 3051 St. Rt. 82, Aurora, Ohio 44202, where her Celebration of Life Service will begin at 5:00 P.M. Officiating will be Pastor Jim Atkins. Immediately following the Sunday evening service, family and friends are invited to join together for a meal in the fellowship hall of the church. Betty will be laid to rest beside her beloved "Mac" Monday May 18, 2015, 10:00 A.M. at Bedford Cemetery in Bedford, Ohio. Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Steve Koth, Michael Koth, Paul Roszak, Michael MacAlonan, Danny MacAlonan and A.J. Almy. (EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT THE CEMETERY ON MONDAY).
