Ernest A. Laczko, Jr's Obituary
MANTUA Ernest A. Laczko, Jr., 68 years of age, passed away Monday June 15, 2015. Born in Cleveland, Ohio on September 28, 1946, he was the son of the late Ernest A. and Mary (Veres) Laczko, Sr. Ernie was a lifetime Mantua area resident, and was a 1964 graduate of Crestwood High School where he was Class President. Ernie was employed by Ohio Bell Telephone, retiring from Ameritech after 34 years of service as a central office technician. From 1987-2008, Ernie was employed at the Green Family Funeral Home where his warm smile, humor and caring attitude were given to those families he was able to assist in their time of grief. Ernie proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Era. A member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Mantua, Ernie was available whenever asked to assist with any church function, each year being a very important part of the Ox Roast set-up crew. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Mantua Chapter. A man who enjoyed NASCAR and shooting pool which he was very good at, Ernie also was a baseball coach for many years for both of his children's teams. To know Ernie, was a pleasure, as his sense of humor, his knowledge of trivial facts of life and the Gentleman that he was to family and friends will forever be remembered. On November 28, 1970, he married his devoted wife Lucille M. (Kohuth) Laczko who survives at their home. Also surviving are his beloved children Adam Laczko of Streetsboro, Rebecca (Matthew) Roosa of Hiram, his loving grandchildren Samuel and Natalie Roosa and his dear sister Irene (Bill) Hickman of Windham. Ernie was preceded in death by his sister Therese DeYoung. Calling hours will be Thursday at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service, 4668 Pioneer Trail at the corner of St. Rt. 44, Mantua, Ohio 44255 from 5:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday June 19, 2015, 10:00 A.M. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Mantua with Rev. Michael Garvey officiating. (EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT THE CHURCH). Full Military Honor's will be provided by members of the U.S. Navy Honor Guard Team, assisted by members of Mantua American Legion Post No. 193. Final resting place will be at Westlawn Cemetery in Mantua Township, Ohio.I n lieu of flowers, please consider donations the the Mantua-Shalersville Fire Fighters Association or the Portage County APL.
