Ethelyn E. Becks' Obituary
GARRETTSVILLE Ethelyn E. Becks, 89 years of age of Garrettsville, became Our Gift to God on Friday July 2, 2010 at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna, Ohio. Mrs. Becks was God's Gift to Us on February 13, 1921 in Freedom Township, Ohio the daughter of the late Floyd and Mary (Hunt) Thompson. A resident of Garrettsville and Portage County since 1979, she was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Garrettsville. A homemaker, Mrs. Becks formerly was employed at Banc One in Ravenna as a teller, then as head teller for 6 years. Mrs. Becks enjoyed traveling with her husband for many years, card playing with her family and playing word search. She found spending time with her children, grandchildren and other family members to be the most special moments in her life. On May 2, 1942, she married Gilbert A. Becks, Sr. who preceded her in death on May 21, 2003. She also was preceded in death by 3 brothers. Survivors include her children Gary (Barbara) Becks and Ruth (Will) Herrington both of Garrettsville and Gilbert (Diane) Becks, Jr. of Newton Falls, as well as 6 loving grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and her sister Thelma (Robert) Knipper of Freedom. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 5:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday July 7, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Garrettsville with Rev. Leo Wehrlin officiating.
