Evelyn Jane Miller's Obituary
MANTUA
Evelyn Jane Miller, aged 94 of Mantua, Ohio, became our angel in Heaven on April 21, 2023. Evelyn was born in Cleveland, Ohio on May 26, 1928, to Dorothy Francis (Bohning) Downie and Gordon Leon Downie, and was raised in Valley View, Ohio by her maternal grandparents,Emma and William Bohning. In 1948, she married Emmet Eugene Miller, and together they started a family and lived a life based on Christian values and morals. After Emmet passed away in 1984, Evelyn kept her devotion to her family and church, always inspiring everyone to remember God's everlasting love. Evelyn was a faithful follower of the Lutheran religion her entire life. When she, Emmet, and their family moved to Mantua in 1960, they immediately became integral members of Christ Lutheran Church. Through the years, Evelyn did everything from teaching Sunday School to coordinating Vacation Bible School, and eventually took the role of Office Secretary in 1975 until her "retirement" in 2016. In addition to her husband, Evelyn was preceded in death by her brothers Lester Bohning and Gordon Downie, and her sister Shirley Garey. Evelyn is survived by her sister, Kathie Downie Bogle; her children, Patricia (Laurence "Bud") Divoky, Diane (David Shaffer) Perrine, Colleen(Danny) McFee, Gail (Robert) Burkadt, Lisa (Rick) Blunk, June (Michael) Zamecnik, Candy(Mike) Pollard, Maria (David) Granc, and John Miller; nineteen grandchildren, and nineteen great-grandchildren... Phew!! A short service will be held at Christ Lutheran Church in Mantua on Friday, April 28 at 1:00 PM.Interment will immediately follow the service at the St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery in Garfield Heights, with a late luncheon back at Christ Lutheran Church at 3:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, P.O.
