Evelyn LaVerne Monroe Chalker's Obituary
HIRAM Evelyn LaVerne Monroe Chalker, 83 years of age, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday January 13, 2017. She was born on July 28, 1933 in Hiram, Ohio. After graduating from Hiram High School she spent many years as a bookkeeper working in banks and for Bixler Tours in Hiram. She and her family were also able to travel through her job at Bixler Tours. She and her husband Marland ?Bud? Chalker retired and moved to Eustis, Florida in 1989 and resided in central Florida until 2009 when they returned to Ohio. In later years, LaVerne enjoyed baking, playing cards and games, and working puzzles. She grew up on a farm in Hiram, Ohio; and enjoyed horseback riding, farming, and animals. She was much loved by family, neighbors, and friends. LaVerne is survived by her son Lyle (Tina) Campbell of Tallmadge; daughter Leann Campbell of Akron; step-daughters Linda (Rick) Knapp of Tavares, Florida and Karen (Walter ?Mitch?) Tymcio of Rootstown; and three grandchildren, Megan, Brandon, and Lorelai Campbell; and four step-grandchildren; Christie Tymcio, Joe Tymcio, Laura Sorkin, and Amy Sorkin; and two step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Marland ?Bud? Chalker in 2013; her parents Bernice and Joyce Monroe of Hiram; sister Agnes Smith of Parkman; and brothers Roger ( Killed In Action in World War II) and Kress Monroe of Hiram; and grandson Ezekiel Edward Campbell. Calling hours will be Monday January 16, 2017 from 4:00 P.M.-6:00 P.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service, 4668 Pioneer Trail at the corner of St.Rt. 44,Mantua, Ohio 44255, where her funeral service will begin at 6:00 P.M. Officiating will be Dr. Irvin W. Green. A gathering of family and friends will be held at The Hiram Christian Church, 6868 West Wakefield Rd. (St.Rt. 82) Hiram, Ohio 44234, immediately following the service at the funeral home. Final resting place will be at Fairview Cemetery, Hiram, Ohio. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Portage County Animal Protective League or the Hiram Christian Church in her name.
