Faye M. Carlisle's Obituary
GARRETTSVILLEFaye Miller Carlisle, 91 years of age, passed away Tuesday December 4, 2014 at Wakemed Hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina. Born on September 14, 1923 in Minerva, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Paul J. and Alta (Slack) Price.A longtime resident of the Garrettsville area, Faye had been a graduate of Canfield High School and had attended Kent State University nursing school. Faye worked for the North East Ohio Poultry Association in the late 40's as a secretary while attending Kent State. She later bought and operated the Garrettsville Beauty Salon with her sister, Pat. She also was employed at the James A. Garfield Schools as Food Service Supervisor for 17 years. Over her lifetime, Faye served in many capacities within her Garrettsville United Methodist Church and in the Garrettsville community. She served on the boards of several community volunteer organizations as well as being a loyal volunteer for the former Portage County Home, County Red Cross, Hospice, Robinson Memorial Hospital and the Silver Creek Garden Club. She was a past president of the 20th. Century Club, member of the League of Women Voters and Junior Women. She continued to enjoy playing cards and her card clubs up until the time of her passing. Faye enjoyed her garden and shared all her many flowers to make beautiful arrangements for her church altar. She was known for her artful eye and repeatedly helped to enhance the church or a home for the Garrettsville Christmas Walk. While gardening was one of her pastimes, cooking, entertaining and traveling were additional special likes she had. Faye will always be remembered by her loving family as an ever present supporter of her children's and grandchildren's many and varied activities. On September 9, 1942, she married Warrant Officer, Dale G. Miller whose passing took place on August 8, 1948. On January 26, 1952, she married Robert M. Carlisle who preceded her in death on August 1, 1998.Her brother LaVon Price and sister Eileen Eick-Manuez also preceded her in death. Faye is survived by her devoted family including her sons Gary ( Jean-deceased) Miller of Dalton, Ohio, Stanley ( Annette ) Carlisle,II of Garrettsville, daughters Jane C. ( Marty ) Hill of Garrettsville and Gale ( Rick ) Lane of Florida, brother Kenneth Price of California, sisters Patricia ( Don ) Hinkle of North Carolina and Josephine ( Gene ) Wilson of Oregon. Her grandchildren Rob (Mel), Amanda (Dwayne). Kevin (Amber), Sandy (Richard), Doug (Melissa), Jeremy (Sara), Matthew (Sarah), Michael ( Terra), Robert ( Miranda), C.J. and 18 great-grandchildren also survive. No calling hours. Faye is being laid to rest at a private family interment at Park Cemetery in Garrettsville. A Memorial Service to Honor and Celebrate Her Life will be held Saturday December 13, 2014 at the Garrettsville United Methodist Church, 8223 Park Avenue, Garrettsville, Ohio 44231 at 2:00 p.m. Officiating will be Rev. Kris Patt. Immediately following the service, her family will greet friends at the church. Arrangements are by the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua.
