Frank Clay's Obituary
MANTUAFrank Clay, 74 years of age, became Our Gift to God on Sunday July 31, 2011 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Frank was God's Gift to Us on August 6, 1936 in Logan County, West Virginia, the son of the late Millard and Esta (Davidson) Clay. Frank grew up in West Virginia and was a graduate of Man High School in Man, West Virginia. A resident of the Mantua area since 1953, Frank was a longtime very active member of the Crestwood Ruritan Club, where he was always available to assist with the annual clambake fundraiser, sharing times of fellowship along with his strong work ethic. He also was an umpire and baseball coach with the Crestwood Youth Baseball Program. Keeping with his desire to help others, Frank organized a convoy of 7 trucks to deliver medical supplies, food, clothing and other items when the Buffalo, West Virginia flood devastated a large area in West Virginia, using his home as the meeting place for the volunteers and all of the supplies to be transported. Frank was employed at Preformed Line Products in Mayfield Village as Corporate Traffic Manager, retiring in 1999 after 43 years of service which saw him work his way up in the company from the ground level to the position at his time of retirement. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, was an expert horseshoe player and spending time with his devoted family and friends. On May 4, 1956, he married his loving wife Alice (Workman) Clay who survives at their home. Also surviving are his beloved sons Ed (Brandee Collins) Clay and Jim (Diane Carson) Clay both of Mantua, his siblings Ralph Clay and Pearl (Randel) Daniels both of Arizona, Joe (Margaret) Clay of Mantua and Audra McKinney of West Virginia and his cherished grandchildren Jeff, Ed (Peg) and Brian. He was preceded in death by his siblings Harry Clay and Ann Napier.
