Frank "Chub" Lorence's Obituary
Frank "Chub" Lorence, Jr. 89 years of age of Mantua Township, passed away Saturday December 20, 2008 at Maplewood Care Center in Streetsboro following a courageous battle with cancer. Born on October 10, 1919 in Perry Township, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Frank and Apolonia (Kubal) Lorence, Sr. A Mantua area resident since 1953, Mr. Lorence was employed as a coal miner for 20 years in Pennsylvania, following which he was employed as a die setter at Ford Motor Company in Walton Hills, retiring in 1985. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and held memberships in VFW Post 2629 Aurora and American Legion Post No. 0978 in Weedsville, Pennsylvania. From 1938-1939 he was a proud member of the Civilian Conservation Corps being Honorably Discharge in 1939. Mr. Lorence was an avid fisherman, enjoyed hunting and was a "People Person" who never met a stranger. Survivors include his sons Frank (Martha) Lorence, III of Diamond, Ohio, Donald (Linda) Lorence of Twinsburg and Dan (Danielle) Lorence of Streetsboro, brother Edward Lorence and sisters Nellie Hess and Ann Hill all of Pennsylvania, 8 grandchildren and numerous great- grandchildren. On September 13, 1941 he married Betty Lorence who preceded him in death in 2001. Also preceding him in death was his son John Edward Lorence who died in 1969 while serving his country in Viet Nam, brothers Henry, Mike and John Lorence and sisters Mary Paoletta, Bertha Wiercioch, Helen Bogumit and Jane Hager. Calling hours will be Friday December 26, 2008 from 6:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua, where the funeral service will be Saturday December 27, 2008 at 10:00 A.M.
