Freeman "Red" Bailey's Obituary
MANTUA Freeman H. "Red "Bailey, 88 years of age, passed away Saturday November 15, 2014 at his residence. Born in Parkman Township, Ohio on April 18, 1926, he was the son of the late Homer and Georgine (Klein) Bailey. A resident of the Mantua area since 1960, he had been employed at Efficient Tool & Die in Independence, then at Lordstown Fabricating Plant retiring after 25 years of service. Mr. Bailey proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy in World War II, and was a member of the Newton Falls Post No. 3332 V.F.W. Red was a man of many talents that included woodworking, was an avid reader and " history buff ",played the guitar and held his private pilot's license. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping at Lake Erie with his family, and remained an avid Cleveland Indians fan for many years. He will always be remembered as a man who supported the functions of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was committed to all of his family. On October 19, 1947, he married Mildred C. " Midge " Bailey who preceded him in death on November 8, 2004. Also preceding him were his brothers " Buster", Charles, Dale and Marvin Bailey and sisters Pearl, Eleanor and Alma. He is survived by his children Gary L. ( Susan) Bailey of Mantua, Richard A. ( Christine) Bailey, Kevin L. Bailey and Keith L. ( Sandra ) Bailey all of Garrettsville , Jeffrey A. Bailey of Windham and Cynthy A. Borders of Mantua, his brother Clyde ( Donna ) Bailey of Mantua, sisters Grace Eggleston of West Farmington and Jeannie Valot of Newton Falls. He leaves also 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Red will also be missed by his loving companion Joan Breth of Streetsboro. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua, where his funeral services will be held Wednesday November 19, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Final resting place will follow at Westlawn Cemetery in Mantua Township, Ohio, where Full Military Honor's will be provided by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard Team, assisted by members of Mantua American Legion Post No. 193. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Mantua-Shalersville Fire Department.
