Freeman G. Rooth's Obituary
SHALERSVILLE Freeman G. Rooth, 75 years of age of Shalersville, passed away Friday August 21, 2009 at the Gardens of Western Reserve in Streetsboro. Mr. Rooth was born on December 19, 1933 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the son of the late Freeman H. and Dorothy (Weilemann) Rooth. A resident of the Shalersville area the past year, he formerly was a longtime resident of Chardon. Mr. Rooth was a plant manager at B.F.Goodrich, following which he was employed at Stouffer's in Solon in the shipping and receiving department, retiring in 1995 after 20 years of service. He was a U.S. Marine Veteran. Mr. Rooth was an avid Cleveland Indians fan, enjoyed fishing, bowling, card playing, puzzles and bird feeding. Mr. Rooth will be remembered as a man who thrived in assisting others in need, and as a loving and devoted son to his mother, always willing to help her in whatever way he could. He is survived by his children Tim (Sue) Rooth of Hiram, Kevin (Kathy) Rooth of Chagrin Falls, Brian (Pamela) Rooth of Mantua, Kimberly Sloat of Kent, Meghan (Dino) Parrino of Shalersville and Kristen (Mark) Tekavec of Mantua, his sister Patricia (Ed) Yambor of Parma, his former wife Janis Rooth of Ravenna and 15 grandchildren. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 2:00 P.M.- 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua, where prayers will be said Wednesday at 9:15 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday August 26, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Mantua with Rev. Michael Garvey officiating. Mr. Rooth will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery in Cleveland with military honors.
