Genola Taylor's Obituary
MANTUA Genola G. Taylor, 83 years of age, passed away Tuesday April 10, 2012 at her residence. Born on December 28, 1928 in Shalersville Township, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Thomas D. and Maud H. (Herbert) Gick .A lifetime area resident, Genola had been employed at Progressive Insurance in Mayfield Hts., Ohio as Executive Secretary, then as Executive Assistant, beginning her career there in 1977 and retiring in 1994. As a very active member of Portage Faith United Methodist Church, she was a founding member and former treasurer of Portage Play & Learn for over 20 years. She also was a member of the Crestwood Lions Club. Genola's warm smile and beautiful voice will be remembered as she shared her talent as a member of the chorus at Blossom Music Center, then as a member of the Cleveland Orchestra Chorus for 17 years. Genola was often requested to be a soloist at weddings, and she shared her voice as a member of her church choir. On October 22, 1949, she married her loving husband H.A. John Taylor who survives at their home. Also surviving are her sons Thomas (Laura) Taylor of Shalersville, Ted (Sandy) Taylor and Tris (Jean) Taylor both of Mantua, her sister Gerry Dornbirer of Aurora and 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons Todd in 1955 and Tim in 1972. No calling hours. A graveside service for Genola will be held Saturday April 14, 2012 at Westlawn Cemetery in Mantua Township at 11:00 A.M., following which a Memorial Service of Remembrance will begin at 1:00 P.M. at Portage Faith United Methodist Church, 9922 State Route 44, Mantua, Ohio 44255 with Rev. Carolyn Berry officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to her church. Arrangements are by the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua.
