George Buchkoski Jr's Obituary
George Buchkoski Jr., 87, of Aurora, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2026, due to complications of old age. Born on October 7, 1938, in Boltz, Pennsylvania, George lived a life marked by hard work, warmth, and an unmistakable sense of humor that endeared him to everyone he met.
George graduated from Twinsburg High School in the 1950s and began his working life as a teenager at Geauga Lake Park along with two of his four younger brothers. This is where his strong work ethic first took root. He went on to build a long and dedicated career at the Chrysler Plant in Twinsburg, where he remained until his retirement in his late fifties. Throughout his life, George never hesitated to tackle unfamiliar jobs or learn new skills, approaching every challenge with quiet determination and capable hands.
George married his beloved wife, Bertha, on June 20, 1959 and together they built a loving home and raised three children throughout Ohio in the town/village/and cities of Shalersville, Hiram, Ravenna, Streetsboro, Mantua, and Garrettsville. He embraced the country life wholeheartedly, finding deep satisfaction in farming, caring for animals, canning, and working with tractors. He loved all pets including birds, cats, a Squirrel monkey, horses, ponies, geese, ducks, etc... but proved himself a lifelong DOG lover.
Much like his father, George Sr., he possessed an impeccable wit and a natural congeniality that drew people to him. This gift for humor, wit, and warmth was something he proudly passed down to his two sons. In his later years, George was embraced by care facility staff in Aurora who knew him well for his humor, his down-to-earth disposition, and his genuine kindness. The staff and fellow residents made him the King of the facility until his death!
A baptized member of Jehovah's Witnesses, George carried his faith quietly and sincerely. His Bible based hope kept his eyes on the prospect of receiving a physical resurrection back to earth if he should pass, as experienced by Lazarus, the friend of Jesus Christ. Now as immortal King, Jesus will soon expand on his healing capabilities and return life to billions of people in a much better world, one controlled by his father Jehovah by means of the kingdom that Christians have prayed for for over two thousand years. For now, like Lazarus, he is resting peacefully in God's memory.
George was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Bertha, and his parents and four brothers. He is survived by his son, Edward; his son, Thomas; his daughter, Kelleen; his grandchildren Christopher and Heather; and his six great grandchildren, Taylor, Connor, Lilly, Lucas, Michael, and Dillon.
In keeping with his nature as a quiet and humble man who would have shied away from such hoopla, no formal services, showings, or memorial will take place. He was a man who loved to cook, bake, and eat. The family table was always a place of nourishment, laughter, and togetherness. With this in mind, his family and close friends will gather privately around a meal table to share memories, reminisce, and celebrate the life he lived so fully.
As the saying goes, "A father is someone you look up to no matter how tall you grow." Indeed, this was the case with our father.
The physical bond we shared has been severed, but not so in our minds and hearts. Until we see him again, we will keep him alive through the fond memories we shared.
The family would like to express appreciation for your consideration in remembering our father and focusing for a moment on his life's footprint and the small ripple he made in the pond of life.
