George H. Foster's Obituary
MANTUAGeorge H. Foster, 91 years of age, passed away Wednesday October 5, 2011 at his residence. George was born on October 17, 1919 in Ravenna, Ohio the son of the late Edward and Lottie (Bliss) Foster, and was a lifetime Mantua area resident, and a 1937 graduate of Mantua Center High School. He had been employed as a fitter-welder at Lewis Welding and Engineering in Bedford for 19 years, following which he held that position at Stock Equipment in Chagrin Falls for over 19 years from where he then retired from. A. U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II, George was a member of American Legion Post No. 193 in Mantua.He was a member of the Hilltop Christian Church and also attended the Mantua-Center Christian Church. George enjoyed woodworking, cutting wood, the outdoors which included fishing and hunting, and will always be remembered for his conversations with family, friends and strangers, his ability to tell stories and the "Smile and Wit" that was a true characteristic of George. On November 6, 1945, he married his loving wife Carrie June (Albers) Foster who survives at their home. Also surviving are his dear daughters Kathy (Buster Harris) Foster of Springfield Township, Ohio and Bonnie Foster of Mantua. He was preceded in death by his siblings Bliss and Carl Foster and Grace Peebles and Elsie McIntyre. Calling hours will be Monday from 5:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua, where his funeral service will be held Tuesday October 11, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. with Laurie Metzko officiating. George will then be laid to rest at Westlawn Cemetery in Mantua Township, Ohio where a U.S. Navy Honor Guard Team, assisted by members of American Legion Post No. 193 will provide full military honors.
