George P. Janca's Obituary
MANTUA George P. Janca, 86 years of age, passed away Monday January 24, 2011 at Fairview General Hospital in Cleveland. Mr. Janca was born on January 14, 1925 in Cleveland, Ohio the son of the late James and Lillian (Chadek) Janca. A truck driver for Local No. 407, Mr. Janca was a former longtime Mantua area resident, and had resided in Cleveland the past 12 years, as well as enjoying spending the winter months in Florida. Mr. Janca found pleasure in wood carving and pine needle basket weaving. He was a U.S. Marine veteran of World War II.A former member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Mantua, he presently was a member of Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church in Cleveland. On July 26, 1945, he married Anne (Pastor) Janca who preceded him in death in 1995. Also preceding him were his sons James J. and Kenneth P. Janca. He is survived by his son George A, Janca of Fairview Park and 4 grandchildren. A Memorial Mass will be Friday January 28, 2011 5:00 P.M. at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church, 3644 Rocky River Dr. Cleveland with Fr. Jerome Duke officiating. A reception will follow mass at the Franciscan Village adjacent to the church, until 9:00 P.M. Mr. Janca is being laid to rest at Westlawn Cemetery in Mantua Township, Ohio. Arrangements are by the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua.
