George J. Tancos' Obituary
GARRETTSVILLE George J. Tancos, 71 years of age, passed away Wednesday October 13, 2010 at University Hospital in Cleveland. Born on April 16, 1939 in Newton Falls, Ohio, he was the son of the late George and Helen (Abbey) Tancos. A resident of Garrettsville the past 15 years, George was a former lifetime resident of Newton Falls and Braceville, and was a Newton Falls High School graduate. George was employed at General Electric Ohio Lamp Division in Warren, Ohio in the shipping and receiving department, retiring after more than 30 years of service. He was a former member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Newton Falls Knights of Columbus. George was a member of the Garrettsville Eagles where he served as treasurer. He was an avid bowler, was involved in Karaoke along with his special (Son) Junior Barker, enjoyed working around his home, spending time with his grandchildren, and will always be remembered by his family and friends for having a good time with them and enjoying life to the fullest. On August 8, 1996, he married Jeanne (Bogardus-Vaughan) Tancos who survives at their home. Also surviving are his sons Kevin (Robin) Vaughan of Hiram, Randy (Ann) Vaughan of Bainbridge, Brian (Shelly) Vaughan of Westerville and Todd (Jennifer) Vaughan of Shalersville; daughters Terri (Rodger) Foy of Garrettsville, Jackie Tancos and Lori (Angie Poling) Tancos both of Cleveland; 14 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his brother John Tancos. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2:00P.M.-4:00 P.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua, where his funeral service will be Monday October 18, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev.Fr. Michael Garvey of St. Joseph's Catholic Church officiating. George will be laid to rest at Westlawn Cemetery in Mantua Township.
