Gladys E. Fumich's Obituary
Gladys E. Fumich, 71 a beloved, longtime resident of Shalersville, Ohio, passed away on October 19, 2025. Born on April 9, 1954, in Conneaut, Ohio, she was the daughter of Charles A. Hawkins and Lois M. (Smock) Hawkins.
Gladys’s life was filled with joy and family. She married her high school sweetheart, Gary Fumich, on October 9, 1971, and they remained together for 54 wonderful years. During her lifetime, Gladys was a talented quilter, creating beautiful piecework quilts for her family and selling them at local craft shows for over three decades.
In her free time, Gladys cherished spending time with her grandchildren and spoiling them. She enjoyed taking scenic drives on nice days with her husband, Gary.
Gladys is survived by her loving husband, Gary Fumich Sr., of Shalersville, Ohio; her son, Ronald (Rebecca) Fumich, of Loxley, Alabama; her daughter, Rhonda (Thomas) Eddy, of Stow, Ohio; and her brothers, Charles Hawkins, Donald (Kathy) Hawkins, Doug (Jamie) Hawkins, and David (Elizabeth) Hawkins. She was also blessed with her grandchildren, Blake (Ava) Fumich, Kirsten Eddy, Jacob Fumich, Bailey Fumich, and Makayla Eddy, as well as her step-grandchildren, Kollin Brown, Ryan Brown, and Alyssa Brown.
Gladys is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Lois Hawkins, and her son, Gary Fumich Jr.
In accordance with Gladys’s wishes, there will not be a formal service. Instead, her family has decided to hold a celebration of life at a later date and cremation has already taken place.
All arrangements have been entrusted to Green Funeral Care in Mantua, Ohio.
