Gladys I. Zimmerman, 86 years of age, passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at the Hospice of Western Reserve in Cleveland, Ohio. Born at Latrobe, Pennsylvania on September 23, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Martha (Sigafoes) Roddy. A graduate of Ligonier High School, Gladys grew up in Pennsylvania, later moving to Freedom Township in 1975. She and her husband moved to Georgia 20 years ago, eventually returning to Freedom Twp. Her employment included as a secretary at numerous businesses in Akron, then as Truancy Officer at James A. Garfield School District. She also had been a cook at the Warrenton School District while residing in Georgia. Gladys was well known for her working and showing horses, that included her “Dream Come True” at the Horses National Congress. She had superior gardening skills, and the love for her grandchildren, and family, was equally matched for their love of her. In June 0f 1969, she married Dwight Zimmerman who survives at their home. Also surviving are her children Lance (Maryjane) Zimmerman, and Rodney Zimmerman, both of Freedom; sisters Peg Daniels of Ravenna and Pamela Frymeyer of Cambridge, Ohio; grandchildren Matthew and Ryan Zimmerman, and great-grandchildren Zoey and Zachery. She was preceded in death by her siblings William Roddy, and Doris Shaulis. Calling hours will be Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service, 4668 Pioneer Trail at the corner of St. Rt. 44, Mantua, Ohio 44255, from 10:00 A.M.-12:00 Noon, where her funeral service will then begin.
